Through all the problems and difficulties of life, God has given us a provision—His indwelling Presence. Using the five NT occurrences of the Greek noun paraklētos, all of which appear only in the writings of the Apostle John (Jn. 14:16; 14:26; 15:26; 16:7–8; and 1 John 2:1), God gives us provisions for the five basic difficulties in the Christian life. This will encompass 18 studies to come.
Scriptures for Study: To prepare further for the 18 studies that follow, read the five occurrences of paraklētos once again. Can you recognize the greatest problem in your own Christian life and which occurrence of paraklētos addresses it?
