Sola Scriptura (Scriptura alone) was the “formal principle” of the Reformation—the authority that formed and shaped the entire movement from beginning to end. It meant that the Word of God was sufficient, and its purpose was to reposition the Bible as the final authority over the Church.
This is what Sola Scriptura Ministries is about and this website is dedicated to. We pray it will encourage you to the sufficiency of Scripture.
“Unless I am convinced by Scripture and plain reason—I do not accept the authority of popes and councils, for they have contradicted each other—my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and I will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand; I cannot do otherwise. God help me. Amen.”
—Martin Luther at Worms; April 17, 1521
